Sunday Night Movie

Cory Kennedy is really channeling Ione Skye's character in the 80's movie The River's Edge I couldn't find any movie stills to show examples, you just have to trust me. Ione wears tapered dark denim and an oversized checked hunting jacket. Her hair is long, dark and naturally wavy with long side bangs. And I was just thinking every time Ione's character came on the screen "Cory Kennedy has not seen "The Rivers Edge", has she?"

You're so Vain

What Australian with a movie coming out snagged the cover of Vanity Fair with George Clooney? No not Russel Crowe. It's a model and you have one guess. Tonight at 7pm they'll show more footage from the photoshoot on the Insider on CBS. You know I'll be watching.

Love Louise

Fashion Addict Diary posted here about Louise Brooks. La Femme had a post a while back with all the models currently sporting a Louis inspired bob. I scanned an interesting article from the October issue of W here about the silent star. Sorry if it's difficult to read the scan, the issue is still on newsstands.

Pinkspiration

Maybe Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation was the original inspiration for all the pink hair happening now.

Take My Breath Away

New Balmain designer Christophe Decarnin creates an exquisite first collection, filled with gossamer and gold. From what I have seen so far this collection is taking my breath away. Just the right balance of deconstruction and craftmanship. Metallic embroidery, tattered t-shirts as thin as veils, and harem pants that actually work. This is what I've been waiting for. Paris lives up to the hype. Check out the entire collection on Style.com

Let the Sunshine In

I went over to Carroll Gardens today to have brunch with a friend. We ended up wandering down Smith Street checking out the shops. We stopped in Bird, a boutique that carries Isabel Marant, Twelth St. by Cynthia Rowley, See by Chloe, Tsumori Chisato etc. I found this blue coat in hunting plaid by Sunshine & Shadow. I think i'll just get this at the Army Navy Store during my visit home to Vermont. Or I'll just steal one from my brother. Obviously it won't look as feminine, more Willy Vanderperre/Olivier Rizzo, like the image at the bottom.

Sticks and Stoned

Nataliya Gotsi (looking scary) S/S 2007

Nataliya Gotsi (looking amazing) S/S 2005
I keep thinking about the controversy about skinny models. Should there be weight restrictions such as a healthy BMI? Should doctors check to make sure these young women are in good health. I do believe that some of these girls are starving themselves or using drugs and cigarettes to supress their appetites. I don't think that it is fair to categorize all models as anorexic, drug addicts. Many of these women are naturally thin and perfectly healthy, but there is a very unrealistic, extreme idealized body in the fashion industry right now. It is the models job to embody the vision of the designer or they don't work. This is their livehood and it would be unfortunate if it were also their death.

She's filled with secrets

I watched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me again. I don't like it as much as the series, most people don't. But I had a mini epiphany...Tinsley Mortimer is Laura Palmer. Well she reminds me of her anyways. Here take a look at the pics. I couldn't find many movie stills to illustrate my point but these ones had to do.

Paperbag Princess

Marc Jacobs Spring 2007

Allison Kelly, Project Runway 3

Strange that this Marc Jacobs dress somewhat resembles the dress Allison made on the episode she was voted off. Maybe if Allison had put a hat on her model and not that ridiculous minnie mouse hair she would have had a shot at the final three.

Rewind

I thought this rodarte atrocity looked familiar...Chloe Dao Project Runway winner season 2. It was hideous last season and hideous now. Ok, Chloe's was worse.
